Creative Coaching: What it is and How it Can Help

In 2015, I started a business Facebook page for my handmade wreaths. Two years later, I had just 300 followers. At the same time, my full-time job was about to be eliminated and the desire to create for a living was growing. It ignited a fire inside me. If I was going to work for myself and do what I loved full-time, I was going to have to get serious. I spent hours and hours learning the art of wreath-making and how to build a presence on social media. Then, through my research and Facebook scrolling, I stumbled upon something – or someone – that changed my life! I found Damon from DecoExchange and learned about the business and creative coaching programs he offered. I took the leap of getting a coach and never looked back.

From there, I opened an Etsy shop and started selling wreaths out of a local boutique. Oh, and that Facebook page of 300 followers? It’s grown to more than 88,000 and counting!

Now, I’m helping creatives across the country experience those wins in their own business. Becoming a creative coach has been one of the most rewarding parts of my career! There are a lot of things I learned throughout the years I spent building my business. And I gotta say, one of the best things I learned was the absolutely stupendous and transformative magic of coaching.

What Is Creative Coaching?

Creative coaching focuses on expanding your creativity and developing your skills to help you dream up and create something you never knew you could. By showing you how to make something, how to consider specific design choices, and how to think about projects in new and different ways, a creative coach can help you remove the obstacles that may be holding you back and help instill confidence in your abilities. Your creative coach can often show you designs and techniques you didn’t know existed and help you explore your creativity more. They can also offer business advice and help, drawing from their own experience. They’re also just a great resource to go to when you have questions, need an accountability buddy, or need some good old encouragement.

How Does Creative Coaching Help?

You can make creative coaching whatever you want it to be. How it helps you will depend on your goals, commitment to the program, and just how much you take advantage of all your coach has to offer. There’s SO much creative coaching can help you with, including providing you:

  • Access to some of the best creators and successful product-based business owners out there.
  • A “shortcut” to creative and business success. Your creative coaches will teach you all the things they’ve learned the hard way. We made the mistakes so you don’t have to!
  • The encouragement and accountability you need to motivate you to work on your goals and your projects.
  • Access to lessons and tutorials that will teach you new designs, techniques, and ways of thinking creatively.
  • Business advice from those who have been there, done that, and SUCCEEDED.
  • A new sense of empowerment and confidence.
  • The ability to identify and overcome specific barriers, mental blocks, and other issues.
  • An amazing community of like-minded creatives of all different abilities.
  • New routines or systems that improve your creativity and production.

My Creative Coaching Program

If you’re looking for a creative coach, I’m about to make your day! Did you know that I offer creative coaching through The Makers University? The absolutely amazing program, Makers University Creative Coaching features five coaches, including myself, who teach people to do the designs we do. This group was created from a passion to help other creatives!

I am super excited and proud to be part of such an inspiring group of people – a group that’s made of thousands of creators! We’re a family who encourages, helps, and learns from each other. And we’d love to have even more talented people join.

What Are the Benefits of Joining?

Creative Coaching is a monthly subscription that you can cancel any time and membership opens the door to ALL THE THINGS. That includes an all-access pass to some of our best tutorials, discounts, and an awesome creative community of 3,000 like-minded people!

Lessons and Tutorials

A team of five talented and professional designers coach you on how to make wreaths, trees, garlands, and centerpieces. They also provide bonus tutorials on flowers, wreath attachments, and paintings. These coaches go live 5 days a week, giving step-by-step instruction and providing in-depth explanations of each design decision they make, from why they made a bow a certain size to why they chose the placement of each piece in the design. There are also new monthly recorded tutorials centered around a certain theme. Other things you’ll learn with your membership include things like how to pick out the perfect ribbon or flowers and how to decide the color scheme of your next project.

Along with tons of new how-to videos posted throughout the month, members will also get access to the “vault” which features more than 500 past recorded tutorials, which include tutorials on the most adorable spring, Halloween, and patriotic wreaths, Christmas garland, and tree toppers.

Monthly Live Q&As and Critiques

Once every month, a creative coach will host a live Q&A, where you can have all of your creative questions answered. There will also be a live wreath critique, where the coach will review projects group members submit and talk about what they love about the design and what they might change. It’s a super fun and positive way to see what others in the group are working on and encourage them along the way.

Discounts

Who doesn’t love a good deal?! With Creative Coaching membership, you’ll get exclusive discounts on challenges and deals from 25-30 craft vendors each month.

It really is the best stinkin’ community ever!

Creative Coaches

When I say I love the people I work with, I seriously LOVE the people I work with. The designers in this coaching program are some of the most talented, successful, and FUN people I’ve ever met. They are garland extraordinaires, wreath-making wonders, creative ninjas, craft teachers, parents, grandparents, and creative business owners. Most importantly, they are a group of people who are passionate about helping others create beautiful home décor and navigate their own product-based business. And because we’re so like-minded, our work together has easily become a close-knit friendship, too. We coaches travel the country to spend time in person with one another, putting together amazing ideas, lessons, themes, and challenges for this group. We truly love each other’s company and just have a blast when we’re all together. I leave our hangouts with a full heart every time!
